Description
Red Wine: 2009 | Emmanuel Rouget | Vosne Romanee Cros Parantoux
Deep aromas of raspberry, mocha, coffee and smoky minerality. Wonderfully silky and rich, but with surprising minerality giving energy to the very ripe middle palate. Wonderfully full Cros Parantoux, superripe but not at all pruney. Best today on the very long finish, which features broad tannins and noteworthy mineral grip for the year.

Reviews:
- Wine Advocate: The 2009 Vosne-Romanee Cros Parantoux flows onto the palate with seamless fruit. This is a gorgeous, expansive wine that shows off tons of pedigree and class. The fruit builds with notable intensity and depth towards a soft, caressing finish of nearly indescribable beauty. This is a great wine from Emmanuel Rouget. The Cros Parantoux was aged in 100% new oak.
- Burghound: A highly spiced and fresh yet restrained and cool nose of wet stone, spice and high-toned red pinot fruit aromas is followed by stony, intense and beautifully delineated medium-bodied flavors that brim with an abundance of dry extract that largely buffers the very firm but ripe tannins on the stunningly long and still youthfully austere finish. This is a truly stunning effort that seamlessly combines finesse and power.
Producer Information
Often mentioned in the same breath as his famed uncle (the late Henri Jayer) Emmanuel Rouget is a well-regarded Burgundy producer in his own right. Having taken over the farming of the Jayer brothers’ (Henri, Lucien and Georges) holdings, Rouget produces sought-after Pinot Noirs from sought-after vineyards from his base in Flagey-Echézeaux.Emmanuel Rouget first began selling wines under his own name when working as sharecropper of vineyards owned by different members of his family. In 1996 Jayer passed the vineyards to Rouget but continued to bottle some wines under his own name until his full retirement in 2001 – subsequent vintages carry Rouget’s name and command ultra-premium prices, though not as high as his uncle’s.
