Reviews:

  • Wine Enthusiast: Aromas of black-skinned berry, vanilla and star anise form the nose. The full-bodied palate offers dried black cherry, clove and licorice alongside fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity.
  • VertdeVin: The nose is fruity, slightly tight and offers a fine richness. This wine needs to be decanted. It reveals notes of blackberry, wild strawberry, small notes of violet associated with fine touches of lily as well as discreet hints of Sichuan pepper and spices. The palate is fruity, elegant and offers suavity, fat and finesse of the grain. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, fleshy raspberry, small notes of fleshy/juicy plum associated with fine touches of small fleshy/juicy red berries as well as hints of violet. Tannins are elegant.

Producer Information

Cascina Ballarin sees its first light in 1928 when the dwelling with the cellar, the stable and the barn are built. At the end of the 80s, beginning of the 90s the company clearly changed, starting with the wine art we know today. The vineyards took the place of other crops cultivated up to then and important restructuring works and warehouses destined to the cellar were undertaken. Nowadays Cascina Ballarin, cultivates in the vineyard its grapes in La Morra, Monforte dAlba and Novello, then vinifying them in the owned cellar. The wine mainly produced is Barolo, vinified separately from vineyard to vineyard to be able to enjoy the nuances that the soil gives. In addition, Barbera dAlba, Dolcetto dAlba, Langhe Rosso and Langhe Bianco are also produced.
