Whilst Bacardi is now a World renowned Brand, it’s origins are much more humble and interesting than most might expect. After an earthquake in 1852, Don Facundo lost everything – including a son and daughter to a subsequent cholera outbreak. If that wasn’t enough, his company went bankrupt soon after. Rather than give up, he took his work home where he focused on creating a smooth and elegant rum to replace the then crude, harsh cane spirits. The rest, as they say, is history.
