Seeing is believing. Tasting is receiving. Experiencing both is truly validating. In 2019 I had the good fortune of visiting Château Ducru-Beaucaillou in Bordeaux France. (See photo) I’ve been a fan of their exquisite wine ever since.
The 2019 Madame de Beaucalliou is further testament of precision wine making, typical of Ducru-Beaucaillou, dating back to 1720.
On the nose, it opens with dark cassis, black plum, and violet, layered with subtle cedar and graphite.
The palate is medium-plus bodied, offering ripe black fruits wrapped in fine, velvety tannins and a touch of chocolate and baking spice. Fresh acidity keeps the wine lively, and the finish lingers with elegant minerality. A refined, affordable modern Haut-Médoc—approachable now yet possessing all the qualities of their world class blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon Petit Verdot and Cab Franc also capable of resting in a cellar for future greatness. Wrap yourself and your guests in this beautiful holiday wine that will pair perfectly with your festive fare. A gift in every glass.
