The second in a line of vintage products being released by Don Q. This 2007 vintage is a single barrel product aged in used American bourbon barrels. In an effort to stay true to their endeavor of creating a true single barrel product, the rum is only blended with water for proofing and no other rums are used in the blending process.

Don Q 2007 Limited Edition Single Barrel Rum Tasting Notes

Nose: The aroma of the rum is filled with smoky oak tannins and dried fruit. Like the aroma the flavor of the rum is oak forward.

Palate: As the charred oak notes fade, notes of sweet caramel, toasted walnuts and pecans, dried apples, cinnamon, and black pepper are revealed.

Finish: Sweet molasses makes an apperance as the rum fades in a tannin rich finish.

Distillery Information

Las Cabras Distillery was first erected in 1919 as a sugar mill. Since then ownership has passed between the government, international investors, and failed businessmen. In the mid-nineties, “Don Pancho” and Carlos Esquivel discovered the neglected warehouse. Beneath the overgrown grass they uncovered a copper column still with a small medallion inscribed with ‘Cincinnati 1922’. “Don Pancho’s” skills and experience were soon put to good use, and Las Cabras was transformed into one of the great rum distilleries of the world.
