2017 George T Stagg Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey was distilled to 64.6% / 129.2 proof and entered the barrel at 125 proof in the spring of 2002. It spent 15 years and 3 months in Warehouses C, K, M, and Q and the batch consisted of 309 barrels with a 54.03% loss to evaporation and an estimate of 37,998 bottles in the production run. The Grain is a mix of Kentucky Corn (primary), Minnesota Rye, and North Dakota Malted Barley.

Nose: Vanilla and maple are light on the nose.

Palate: Mingling with pear and sweet tobacco leaf. Intensely warming spice is decidedly sweet on the tongue with plenty of cinnamon and dark maple.

Finish: Dried berry notes contribute a bit of welcome tang that complements the thick spice. (Finalist)

Buffalo Trace Distillery is the oldest continually operating distillery in the United States and includes the rich legacies of master distillers such as E.H. Taylor, Jr, George T. Stagg, Albert B. Blanton, Orville Schupp and Elmer T. Lee. Today, the distillery is still family-owned, operating on the same 130 acres of land adjacent the Kentucky River as it has for over 200 years.
