8 year old Hazelburn single malt Scotch whisky, part of the first release of Hazelburn from the Springbank distillery in Campbeltown. They began distilling Hazelburn (which is unpeated) back in 1997, and released this bottling in 2005. The bottles had three different label designs – this one shows an oak cask.
Hazelburn 8 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Foam bananas, vanilla pod, cereals and a touch of orange oil.
Palate: Cinnamon and clove, joined by buttered toast.
Finish: Pink peppercorn and burnt sugar.
Distillery Information
Hazelburn Distillery was a distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland, which was in operation between approximately 1825 and 1925. In 1886, it had 22 employees and produced 192,000 gallons of whisky per year, making it the largest distillery in the town. The distillery was bought by Mitchell & Co. in 1920, but shut down in 1926. Mitchell & Co. owned two other distilleries, including Springbank Distillery.
