Description
The culmination of an extraordinary journey, Loch Lomond 47 Year Old is the third and final release in the distillery’s revered Remarkable Stills series. Among the oldest and rarest whiskies ever released by Loch Lomond, this expression is a profound celebration of the alchemy, engineering, and vision behind the distillery’s unique whisky-making process.
Distilled in 1974 from 100% unpeated spirit using Loch Lomond’s distinctive Straight Neck pot stills, this whisky exemplifies the precise control these stills offer. By collecting the spirit at a higher strength, the distillation preserves an exceptionally vibrant orchard-fruit character—now a defining hallmark of Loch Lomond’s house style.
The whisky began its long maturation in refill American oak casks, allowing the spirit’s natural fruit purity to develop slowly over decades. After 43 years, it was transferred into second-fill Oloroso sherry casks, where it gained added layers of dried and tropical fruit complexity, perfectly complementing its elegant orchard fruit core. After 47 years of patient aging, this final release stands as a rare and eloquent expression of time, technique, and tradition.
