My love affair with pinot noir has been on the rocks.
What’s been missing is a flavor “component” more than a flavor itself or the overall quality of the wine. I want bright acidity with a good deal of “tartness” gripping the sides of my tongue. I want a pungent quality, like a sharp cheese, that slightly assaults my sinuses. I also love the earthy/funky thing that is famous in top end Burgundies… indeed, I like my pinots “barnyardy”.
While that’s a tall–perhaps even impossible–order from a $15 bottle of pinot, Macedon does a better job aiming in that direction than virtually anything else I’ve had in the last year, even at up to 4x the price (and I’ve been looking).
If you like your pinots the way I like mine, I highly recommend checking this wine out.
It’s inspiring.
