Tamdhu was born in 1897, on the banks of the River Spey. Now, as then, every drop is crafted with the same care – starting with water drawn from our own spring. While all Tamdhu matures exclusively in the finest Olroso sherry casks, Tamdhu Batch Strength 004 goes further still. Each cask is meticulously hand-selected to create this one-of-a-kind release. Moreover, a high proportion of these casks are first-fill: the very best of the very best.
Tamdhu Batch Strength IV Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: Elegantly spiced oak, with warming vanilla and freshly-shelled nuts.
Palate: Summer berries and cream. A splash of water brings out warm biscuits, oak spice and candied orange.
Finish: The rich spiciness builds, then reveals sultanas, citrus zest and brown sugar. A long, rewarding farewell.
Distillery Information
Let’s start at the beginning. But the beginning isn’t at the distillery on Speyside where you might expect. The Tamdhu story starts under the warming Spanish sun. In 1898 our founders secured their first precious shipment of sherry casks from the finest bodegas in Spain. Now over 100 years later, Tamdhu matures its whisky exclusively in the finest Oloroso sherry casks. Although the casks are exceptionally rare and expensive, we wouldn’t change our methods, as we think it’s the only way to create the very best single malt whisky.
